Hosting at Calligrafix is reliable. We have racks in an environmentally controlled DataCentre in Edinburgh, with multiple communication lines on BGP failover and protected electrical supply.
Hosting is secure. Only Calligrafix staff have encrypted and restricted access to the servers - end users do not have access to our servers. Our servers have undergone independent security audits and we continually monitor security bulletins on our equipment. Calligrafix hosting is independently monitored for security and internet availability.
Catastrophic storage of client data is at our office in the Scottish Borders.
Our hosting is based on a scaleable architecture - it was designed for projects of several million hits per day with load balancing over a server farm. Our internet feeds can be expanded quickly on demand to cope with growing projects. Each of our sites has load balancers in front of the servers to enable failover, live maintenance and peak traffic handling - all to ensure high availability.
We have control over our own hosting - this is not outsourced to US server farms in an unstable hosting market. We have full control over the software running on our servers - there is no client software running which is often a source of stability issues on other servers.
Please note: to guarantee reliability, we do not host sites developed by other companies.
Domain Name Registration:
We charge £50+vat/annum for domain name registration and nameserver management, and only manage web client domain names unless by special arrangement.
We aim to complete the domain name registration within 3 working days of request.
Any complaints made directly to the partners (Kim Forsyth or Mike Forsyth) will be addressed swiftly and professionally - we have never had a complaint to date.
All .uk domain names are managed with Nominet - By registering a .uk domain name you are entering into a contract with Nominet, and subsequently agree to their terms and conditions. Please read their terms and conditions carefully.
